We can anneal copper, cast irons, stainless steels, brass alloys, aluminium alloys and other materials based on requirements. Please get in touch for more information.
How Annealing WorksWe can anneal a wide range of metals cost effectively. In the past we have undertaken annealing services for clients outside our normal business sectors. If you have a project that would benefit from our annealing services, please talk to a member of our technical team.
The annealing process uses thermodynamics to diffuse the atoms in a metal and disrupt the chemical bond. Metal is typically heated over a set time to temperatures between 250°C and 750°C depending on the material. It is then cooled very slowly which allows the metal to soften and become more ductile.
We use a large furnace for the annealing process, which allows for air to circulate around the metal, aiding the softening. The slow cooling process is equally important, with metals often brought back to room temperature by immersing the material in low-heat conductivity substances such as sand or ash.
