Specialist vintage car restorer Long Mountain Classics has been a Dobsons customer for several years and we were pleased to fabricate a new cylinder head gasket for their latest restoration project - a 1927 Crossley 20.9 Tourer.
Recently we supplied the gaskets necessary to help a heritage steam engine pass her steam test. The engine is an 8-ton Aveling & Porter steamroller named White Rose, built in 1915 and first used by William E. Free at Marlborough in Wiltshire.
Earlier this year, Dobson Gaskets were contacted by Chris Packer from The Transport Museum in Wythall, Worcestershire, about manufacturing two head gaskets for a 1951 Birmingham City Transport Daimler CVD6 bus. This was an interesting project for the team at Dobson's to work on and demonstrates the processes required to precision manufacture a new component from the original.
The number 2707 Daimler CVD6 bus operated in the Midlands from 1951 to 1969, spending most of its working life running from Liverpool Street garage in Birmingham. It was one of 438 Daimler buses operated by Birmingham City Transport during that period and was renowned for being smooth to drive but thirsty for fuel and water.

The industrial and heritage boiler engineering firm are in the final stages of a complete rebuild of the boiler on the Renishaw No. 6, a vintage locomotive owned and operated by Tanfield Railway in Gateshead for which we supplied a range of gaskets.
